Serving The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons

The American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons (ACRS) is sponsoring the shipment of a large ocean-going container of medical supplies and equipment to support patient management provided by Dr. Ayesiga Herman, a recipient of the 2017 International Travel Scholarship offered by the ACRS, and his hospital, Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Tanzania. Dr. Herman is committed to bringing greater focus on colorectal diseases in his country. “We have a wide variety of colon and rectal disease. According to what we observe at our hospital and the published studies from different centers in the country, more than 90% of patients present late in the course of their disease. This occurs most frequently in patients with colon and rectal malignancies, which have been observed to be on the rise in recent years.” To improve diagnosis and management of colon and rectal diseases, Dr. Herman has identified needed medical supplies and equipment which he hopes to receive. Supplies Over Seas will manage the collection, bio-medical testing of equipment, sorting and packing of supplies and shipment of the items to Tanzania to provide “health and hope” to the people of Tanzania.
